Perfect Heroes

Day 12 of the Friday Writes Blog Challenge

The perfect hero is probably someone who loves you for being yourself.

Urban Space

The night is honest in its resilience. We are bold as we endeavor into its embrace.

The urban landscape is one of the few places bright enough to call our attention from the stars and seduce us with its artificial light.

As the night shifts into morning, the calm gifts us the clarity to wade through the pending chaos of an urban morning.

This week was all about returning to self and finding the space for creativity. Walks at night and photos usually get my inspiration churning.

I’m sure you have a dozen ways to find inspiration. I always say do what’s best for you. I’m inspired most by conversations with friends and the calm silence that follows when our spirits part ways.

I’ve reopened my website, and I’ve been finishing up some video work from the past few weeks. I can’t wait to be done and get back to the Dorean Black series.

If you have a website please share it with me on Twitter or IG, just comment website and leave your link on an old post. I love exploring author pages and checking out new writing.

Side note: Keeping a blog is a little therapeutic and looking back on each post is the best part of the journey.

Keep writing and Stay Connected!

Clearing the Fog

It was a foggy night. The rain had finally settled and the fog rolled in.

The radio blared on about lawsuits, failed drug trials, tax shields, and sports games that I didn’t have time to watch.

I glanced over at the clock on my dash and watched it tick-on. It made me think of the places beyond the fog.

I grabbed my book of recipes for this moment and mixed the worlds.

I thought of a place beyond, the land between, and the world that could be.

I wrote a description for each, heroes, villains, tax codes, and tick-tock men to guard the gates.

The world you make may be too much or just enough. Be a minimalist if you desire.

Just get your pen and paper filled with something.

Time

Allocating time to outlining your work and clearing away the clutter of a foggy narrative can make the vision of your story clear.

I recognized the practice of outlining helped me with more than just creative work. It help me with finances, work choices, and goals for the year.

This morning I recognized I’d devote an entire day to outlining a story. The character details, the nuance of their decisions, the ideas that spark their interest all help build the overall narrative.

Sometimes, I’d think I was wasting time, but the planning made all the difference.

Moonlight and Bridges

I was traveling to a friends house when I saw this moon over the city. I snapped a photo and saved it for a writing sprint.

Changing the setting of your everyday writing routine can shift the tone of your work and add some inspiration if you’re encountering a momentary writer’s block or feeling uninspired.

A good real-life moment, like this, and a list can help you sort out the clutter and get you going with something new. I wrote ten secrets lovers would share, ten endings to a climactic battle, and ten things I noticed at the moment.

The bridge was noisy with cars and city sounds as the wind passed. Some people in cars honked because my car partially blocked the road. After I moved it—my car— I managed to write a short scene. Maybe it’ll lead to a new story.

Happy Holidays!

The Good Things

Make time for yourself. The world is filled with opportunities to drive productivity, take on tasks, and complete another project.

Meanwhile, time for reflection and rebuilding is the scarce commodity. The good things rest in our choices. Whether we choose to burn at both ends, or discover the power of downtime, we must realize, both the day and night have their opportunities to flourish.

It may take some time to create your ideal schedule, but in doing so, you make space and time for the good things that may need more of your time and attention.

P.S. Stay connected and focused as you take on new and exciting adventures. I’m conducting a photoshoot today. Sharing, if I get something blog worthy. Also, rough cuts of my web series are with my test audience. Awaiting feedback. Eager to get things ready for the world. Keep hustling, the day is yours.

Getting Started

They won’t believe until you make it happen.

You’ll have to believe in your strategy, your plan, your goal enough to develop and refine it into reality.

If no one else wants to take the journey with you, the best journeys begin with a fearless leap.

Trust your vision. The journey to your greatest accomplishments has already begun.

Recharging

When relentlessly seeking your goals, remember to temper your quest with the beauty of rest to strengthen your creativity and inspiration.

Many of us have surpassed, driven. We’ve outgrown determination, and we are hitting our stride

Reach sustainability by setting aside time for something beautiful on your journey. Love your steps and keep moving forward.

The New Ph.D

The new Ph.D is self-taught, focused on dismantling permission, and laser focused for results.

Learning, rather connected to an institution or refined in a home with a self-taught energized learner, matters when we connect to a community and build something remarkable.

Think beyond one more article in a database, one more degree, one more plaque, or one more seat in a place that’s been claimed and reclaimed over and over.

You have something new, brilliant, and unique yearning for the reality. Learn everything you can about your field. The knowledge is usually a click or free download away.

It matters when you apply the knowledge, when you build something, when you have the courage to bring your thoughts and ideas to life.

Your Ph.D is the result you obtain from the shift, the positive social change, you generate as a result of your research, your passion, your opportunity to make something new.

You are the new Ph.D, bold, knowledgeable, connected, your own boss, filled with wisdom, willing to connect, willing to debate,  conquering greed, willing to sacrifice to build a better more connected world for everyone.

Focus on your Greatest Achievement

There is an unmatched abundance of energy in your heart. You can use it to make great things. You can use it change the world. You can use it to change your world.

Learn to hear the world inside you before you set out to help everyone else.

Seek the deepest depths of your intellect, and strive to understand yourself first.

Your goals, your ideas, everything you’re working on will come together once you’ve mastered the world inside you.
